Why to ReThink our behaviour?

“Capitalism means:
To buy things that you don’t need
from money that you don’t have
to impress people that you don’t like…”

Volker Pispers

In Germany and other parts of the so-called “Western World” we live in abundance. On an average every person possesses 10.000 things. In our supermarkets, stores and onlineshops we can buy every thing we could ever wish for all year round, day in – day out, at ridiculously low prices.

But does this make us any happier?
I don’t think so.

On the contrary, it leads to a world in which nothing has value anymore, because without any effort you can purchase anything at any time. In addition to that we destroy our planet with this overconsumption and our recklessly wasteful behaviour.

Flustix certifies plastic-free products

“FLUSTIX is a seal which certifies plastic-free products. Only if both packaging and product are tested free of plastic will our independent license-partner award the FLUSTIX seal.

Our Goal
We want to reduce plastic waste and encourage industries to replace plastic with alternatives. By marking plastic-free products with the FLUSTIX seal, every customer can make a conscious and sustainable buying-decision. […]

When a manufacturer wants to be certified by FLUSTIX, its produce undergoes a strict testing process. Products, meaning content and packaging, are being tested for plastic contamination by FLUSTIX. In a second step, the product is sent to the independent, unbiased laboratory Wessling GmbH which tests the product for its exact plastic content.

Every product on the German, Austrian and Swiss markets can be tested.”

Easter baskets made from paper pulp

Pappmache Osternest mit Stroh © rethink-recycle.net

In two weeks it’s already easter again!

And it’s this easy to create little easter baskets from old egg-boxes:

  1. Tear the egg containers apart and let them soak in water over night.
  2. On the next day shred the material further with a hand blender.
  3. Squeeze the unnecessary water out.
  4. Shape the paper pulp to your wishes (i.e. press it in a small bowl).
  5. Finally let it dry for at least 24 hours.
  6. Decorate 🙂

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera

Because my roommate talked me into fasting plastic this year I’ll present you with a post about the reduction of plastic waste.

So some of you might ask yourselves: what the hell does this have to do with Aloe Vera???

I’ll tell you…
